Approaching God in the Waiting

When I approach God seeking Him rather than an answer, it transforms the seasons of waiting. Instead of being a waste, they take on a deep sense of purpose. When seeking God for the next step, I run to Him in desperation. I long to hear His voice, I hold my breath in expectation, I long for the time alone in His presence to discover His will.

The days, weeks, and months roll by without clarity, without answers, without satisfaction. I keep returning to His presence, knowing that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He alone holds the future, and I surrender to His timing out of necessity.

Finally, the Holy Spirit moves. God breathtakingly reveals the next step.

Only after I have what I came for do I realize that it isn't what I needed after all. What I needed was His presence. And even still I crave it. I have grown so accustomed to being with Him, seeking in silence, waiting in expectation, that I have to continue this practice whether or not I am inquiring of the Lord.

I no longer approach God seeking an answer, I linger in His presence because I love Him.
